I can't believe that amidst all the exams coming up I went to a charity ball last night. I acheived my goal for doing something out of the ordinary each week =)
The event was called Life Education Gala. It's a corporate event with tables for big companies such as Budget, NAB etc. T had to go to this event due to his position in his company so he dragged J and I along to accompany him. I can safely say that I was the youngest one there so it was a bit awkward for me since I don't know how to communicate well with these people that have no relationship (ie, aunty/uncle, mom's friends) to me at all. In another words, I suck at small talk with old corporate people.
The food was really good! entree of salad with feta cheese and beetroot sprinkled with cabernet sav vinegar topping. main: steak or salmon (i got the steak but wanted the salmon so did swapsies hehe). The salmon was really good! Just... yum! and the steak was nice and juicy as well but it would be better if it was more medium- rare rather than welldone-medium. Dessert: pavlova with this mango and berry side pudding thingy. It was wayyy too sweet for an asian pallete like myself's. But the caucasian people seemed to handle it well.
There was a silent auction, T and I saw this iphone 4 with 4 rubber cases auctioning. We put our bid as $70 just for the fun of it to see if we'll win. Near the end of the night we had a check, someone outbid us by $10!! =O Oh well. There wasn't much good stuff up for silent auction. The most memorable one was a guitar that's signed by ABBA nestled in a glass case which bidded to $1011 near the end of the night.
There was also a reverse auction for nights to stay at different resorts and accommodations that were donated by clients. The resorts looked really nice! The guy that was voicing the auction is so hilarious to listen to. He sounds like the commentators for horse races!
In all, the night was interesting with good food and if I didn't have T and J with me I would have DIED of boredom. When we left early, that was when I could finally breathe a sign of relief and stop acting so proper lol
After the ball was much more fun than during the ball. Got to see the clips of T from his track day and try on his bike helmet. Then drove myself home hehe VROOMMM. But it was an interesting experience to see how these charity functions work and possibly these ideas may come in handy later in the future for the club. Who knows.
Back to studying....I wonder what out of the ordinary thing I'll do next week...
